Community Chest, Inc.
(TCC), Ms. Kimberly Ruskan created phased business strategies to grow the
business model in challenging economic times. TCC is a 501(c) (3) non-profit
that supports community interests and enrichment through distinctive festivals
and niche programs which include but are not limited to arts and cultural focused
programs and niche projects (2002 - Present). The first project is the
Taste of Durham Festival (TOD). The destination festival segments include music, culinary arts, wine
and beer tasting, and interactive arts showcase with an international twist and
high-end themes.
The phase approach was
necessary to established sustainable revenue models to expand the vision and
create new business strategies. Ms. Ruskan created business benefits and value
to generate funding, new revenue streams, and build strong relationships for
support from organizations, businesses, sponsors, etc. Even with sparse
financial support, challenges as a start-up, and new concept for the area, TOD is the fastest-growing high-profile festival in the Triangle
area with five years of consecutive success. The festival

Gift Catalogue Business: We incorporated an
existing retail business model, inventory, products, etc. of Bourbon Street
Candy and built a catalogue business model to sell gift packages, including new
products not sold at the retail outlet, and create new revenue streams.
